Abuja, Nigeria – Human rights activist, publisher of SaharaReporters, and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has been remanded in the Kuje Correctional Centre following the revocation of his bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Justice Mohammed Umar ordered Sowore's remand after the activist and his lawyer failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing in the alleged cybercrime and criminal defamation case instituted by the Department of State Services (DSS). The court subsequently issued a bench warrant for his arrest and directed that he be kept in custody pending further proceedings.

According to the prosecution, Sowore was aware of the hearing date but failed to appear before the court. The judge noted that although a request for adjournment had been submitted, no convincing reason was provided to justify his absence. Consequently, the court revoked the bail earlier granted to the activist and ordered that he be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja. �
